Most bodybuilders swear by whey protein, but I personally prefer plant-based protein and believe it's better for your muscles, body, and the environment. The taste of plant-based protein powders does take getting used to, but I have found a plant-based protein that actually tastes great, too. Keep reading to learn more...
Here are 5 reasons why plant-based protein is better than whey protein:
Animal-based products by nature are acidic, but disease thrives in an acidic environment. If you're already eating animal products throughout the day, chances are you need to balance out your body with more alkaline foods. Plant-based protein is alkaline, whereas whey is acidic (animal-based).
Most people suffer from lactose intolerance and don't even realize it. Since whey is milk-based, it takes longer for the body to break it down. Bloating, gas, allergic reactions, etc. can result from ingesting whey products. On the other hand, plant-based proteins like pea, hemp, and rice digest much faster and don't cause the side effects associated with whey protein.
Easier digestion also means faster absorption. Plant-based proteins are easily absorbed by the body and feed your muscles faster. Who doesn't want that? Your body is begging for more plant-based nutrients and is eager to absorb them.
Full of Nutrients
While whey proteins do contain nutrients, plant-based proteins contain far more minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants. These plentiful nutrients make your muscles stronger and more resistant to free radical damage. By taking a plant-based protein, you're not just feeding your muscles - you're actually feeding your entire immune system and protecting against illnesses and diseases.
Better For The Environment
Whether you believe in climate change or not, consuming animal-based products is hurting the environment. Whey comes from cows, which create waste that emits greenhouse gas emissions. Plant-based protein, however, requires less resources to grow and manufacture, making it much cleaner for the environment.
After tasting many different plant-based proteins, I finally found one that hits all the marks:

By the way, I am not an affiliate for Orgain. I actually use the product and personally recommend it.
